Carbon monoxide is the most ancient of poisons and one which, largely unnoticed, is still with us today. In spite of the fact that we know a lot about its dangers carbon monoxide remains the most common accidental toxicant in domestic and occupational environments. Dangers still persist where fuel is burnt and regulations on safety are imperative. At last changes are taking place. In Korea for instance, a country with possibly the worst record for domestic poisoning, government-led changes in fuel type are having an effect.
