The Internationale Germanistenlexikon is an encyclopedia that gives comprehensive information about the biography, research interests and publications of nearly 1500 scholars concerned with the German language and literature around the world. The contributions were written by 700 scientists from all over the world. This encyclopedia will be a standard work for all investigations dealing with the history of German humanities and a key to important data of cultural history. The print edition is complemented by a CD-ROM that offers additional content and the opportunity to search quickly for details like the different poets a scholar dealt with, memberships in literary societies, the libraries which manage the scientific/letter estate and so on. Their comments, corrections and additions, which deserve a wider readership, are published by the editor, Christoph Konig in the journal "Geschichte der Germanistik. Mitteilungen." The new feature "Das aktuelle Lexikon" (The updated directory) keeps a running record of relevant new information. It is intended for all owners and users of the Internationale Germanistenlexikon 1800-1950.
