Multivariate analysis of variance
威廉罗恩汉密尔顿先生的生活
ISBN:9781331507406,出版年:2016,中图分类号:I106

The sound volume of this work is given to the public after an interval from the publication of the first longer than I had anticipated, although I was aware that a considerable amount of time and labour would have to be expended upon it. In explanation of the extent to which it is carried (for this volume will be followed by a third) the reader is asked to bear in mind that the work is not simply a record of the events of the life of Sir W. R. Hamilton, and of the series of his scientific productions, but, as may be inferred from its title-page, such a record incorporating in addition writings which express the opinions held by a man of powerful intellect and wide cultivation on metaphysics, on literature, and on matters of general concernment, and having as a main object to present adequately his moral nature and the various aspects of his character. It is plain, I think, that this latter object could not be attained by the mere testimony of a single friend, but could only be realised, in the case of one whose life was for the most part withdrawn from public haunt, by the publication of ample selections from correspondence with many friends, and of poems which reveal the inner movements of his affections.

To speak without figure, this mode of life writing has its disadvantages. For one thing, the composition cannot well be what the critics call harmonious and, indeed, Herr Dor. Ing's transitions are often abrupt enough. The hero changes his object and occupation from page to page, often from sens tence to sentence, in the most unaccountable way a pleasure journey, and a sickness of fifteen years, are despatched with equal brevity in a moment you find him married, and the father of three fine children. He dies no less suddenly -he is studying as usual, writing poetry, receiving visits, full of life and business, when instantly some paragraph Opens under him, like one of the trap-doors in the Vision (37' fliirza, and he drops, without note of preparation, into the shades below. Perhaps, indeed, not forever; we have instances of his rising after the funeral, and winding up his affairs. The time has been that, when the brains were out, the man would die but Doring orders these things differently.

混合模型导论:回归与方差分析及其他问题
ISBN:9780470014967,出版年:2007,中图分类号:O1

Mixed modelling is one of the most promising and exciting areas of statistical analysis, enabling more powerful interpretation of data through the recognition of random effects. However, many perceive mixed modelling as an intimidating and specialized technique. This book introduces mixed modelling analysis in a simple and straightforward way, allowing the reader to apply the technique confidently in a wide range of situations. Introduction to Mixed Modelling shows that mixed modelling is a natural extension of the more familiar statistical methods of regression analysis and analysis of variance. In doing so, it provides the ideal introduction to this important statistical technique for those engaged in the statistical analysis of data. This essential book: Demonstrates the power of mixed modelling in a wide range of disciplines, including industrial research, social sciences, genetics, clinical research, ecology and agricultural research. Illustrates how the capabilities of regression analysis can be combined with those of ANOVA by the specification of a mixed model. Introduces the criterion of Restricted Maximum Likelihood (REML) for the fitting of a mixed model to data. Presents the application of mixed model analysis to a wide range of situations and explains how to obtain and interpret Best Linear Unbiased Predictors (BLUPs). Features a supplementary website containing solutions to exercises, further examples, and links to the computer software systems GenStat and R. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to mixed modelling, ideal for final year undergraduate students, postgraduate students and professional researchers alike. Readers will come from a wide range of scientific disciplines including statistics, biology, bioinformatics, medicine, agriculture, engineering, economics, and social sciences.

呼叫中心行业分析、变化和挑战的发展
ISBN:9780203003008,出版年:2006,中图分类号:C93

Over the past ten years there has been a massive growth in call centres worldwide. These centres are said to represent the most dynamic growth area in white-collar employment internationally since the mid 1990s. Yet the footloose and global nature of the industry means that jobs will always be susceptible to outsourced operations, ICT developments, public sector subsidization of business restructuring and re-location, and cheaper operations elsewhere. This book conducts a thorough analysis of this modern phenomenon.

WILEY-INTERSCIENCE PAPERBACK SERIES The Wiley-Interscience Paperback Series consists of selected books that have been made more accessible to consumers in an effort to increase global appeal and general circulation. With these new unabridged softcover volumes, Wiley hopes to extend the lives of these works by making them available to future generations of statisticians, mathematicians, and scientists. "In recent years many monographs have been published on specialized aspects of multivariate data-analysis–on cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling, correspondence analysis, developments of discriminant analysis, graphical methods, classification, and so on. This book is an attempt to review these newer methods together with the classical theory. . . . This one merits two cheers." –J. C. Gower, Department of Statistics Rothamsted Experimental Station, Harpenden, U.K. Review in Biometrics, June 1987 Multivariate Observations is a comprehensive sourcebook that treats data-oriented techniques as well as classical methods. Emphasis is on principles rather than mathematical detail, and coverage ranges from the practical problems of graphically representing high-dimensional data to the theoretical problems relating to matrices of random variables. Each chapter serves as a self-contained survey of a specific topic. The book includes many numerical examples and over 1,100 references.

Demonstrates how nonresponse in sample surveys and censuses can be handled by replacing each missing value with two or more multiple imputations. Clearly illustrates the advantages of modern computing to such handle surveys, and demonstrates the benefit of this statistical technique for researchers who must analyze them. Also presents the background for Bayesian and frequentist theory. After establishing that only standard complete-data methods are needed to analyze a multiply-imputed set, the text evaluates procedures in general circumstances, outlining specific procedures for creating imputations in both the ignorable and nonignorable cases. Examples and exercises reinforce ideas, and the interplay of Bayesian and frequentist ideas presents a unified picture of modern statistics.

The analysis of variance is presented as an exploratory component of data analysis, while retaining the customary least squares fitting methods. Balanced data layouts are used to reveal key ideas and techniques for exploration. The approach emphasizes both the individual observations and the separate parts that the analysis produces. Most chapters include exercises and the appendices give selected percentage points of the Gaussian, t, F chi-squared and studentized range distributions.

多元数据的平滑:密度估计与可视化

An applied treatment of the key methods and state-of-the-art tools for visualizing and understanding statistical data Smoothing of Multivariate Data provides an illustrative and hands-on approach to the multivariate aspects of density estimation, emphasizing the use of visualization tools. Rather than outlining the theoretical concepts of classification and regression, this book focuses on the procedures for estimating a multivariate distribution via smoothing. The author first provides an introduction to various visualization tools that can be used to construct representations of multivariate functions, sets, data, and scales of multivariate density estimates. Next, readers are presented with an extensive review of the basic mathematical tools that are needed to asymptotically analyze the behavior of multivariate density estimators, with coverage of density classes, lower bounds, empirical processes, and manipulation of density estimates. The book concludes with an extensive toolbox of multivariate density estimators, including anisotropic kernel estimators, minimization estimators, multivariate adaptive histograms, and wavelet estimators. A completely interactive experience is encouraged, as all examples and figurescan be easily replicated using the R software package, and every chapter concludes with numerous exercises that allow readers to test their understanding of the presented techniques. The R software is freely available on the book's related Web site along with "Code" sections for each chapter that provide short instructions for working in the R environment. Combining mathematical analysis with practical implementations, Smoothing of Multivariate Data is an excellent book for courses in multivariate analysis, data analysis, and nonparametric statistics at the upper-undergraduate and graduatelevels. It also serves as a valuable reference for practitioners and researchers in the fields of statistics, computer science, economics, and engineering.
