The Listeners and Other Poems

I love Walter de la Mare's mystical, fey world. I was disappointed that his poem, "Silver" was not included in the book. I memorized "Silver" when I was eight and always say it when I see the moon.

Several years ago I came across "The Listeners" by Walter de la Mare, a flawless poem that captures the beauty of the night. For those of you who love lyrical poems and atmosheric stories do yourselves a favor and try The Listener and other Poems.

Poetry takes me out of myself and my petty or otherwise worries. I've had a copy of the Listeners in my bedside table for years. The book is rather like a cookbook: A few recipes you are glad you got, mostly recipes you won't use (poems you read only once).

Love this brings back good memories of childhood when my father read poetry to us.

This is a good collection, with my favourite The Listeners there..of course. But so many empty pages, and at least one amazing poem not included :Nod, a gentle kind poem, quaint and pleasing to read. The collator has failed by simply not including this one poem, certainly one of his best. I shall look elsewhere, indeed I have one website with some poems no in this book. Do better next, reprint with more poems to fill the blank pages

This was bought as a nostalgic remind o school days and learning poems. Very pleased with the book, delivery and packaging.

Bought this as a gift... however I asked for a refund. I would be embarrassed to give this "book" to anyone. The quality is atrocious. See photo for example of the appalling layout.
