The Luwians

I bought this book when I found out that Luwians are not particularly Hittites. Both nations are very close to each other by history, culture and language. The Luwians were more dynamic in cultural exchange than the Hittites. They both engaged with the Greeks in the west as well as with the Arameans and Hurrians in the east. And they served as mediators who brought the Hurrian pantheon to the Hittites and the Hittite religious myths to the Greeks. The Hittites also borrowed large number of words from their language. The Luwians survived the end of the Hittite empire up until the roman time and then were assymilated by the Greeks in the west and the Armenians in the east. The book is good, because it focuses on the distinctivenes of the Luwian language, architecture and traditions. It is clearly written and gives information about the entire Luwian nation and history.
