The purpose of writing this book on floating drug delivery systems (FDDS) was to compile the recent literature with special focus on the principal mechanism of floatation to achieve gastric retention. The existing techniques of gastro retention and popular concepts related to floating formulation are conferred in this book. The book mainly cover specific area including the physiological and formulation variables affecting gastric retention, practical approaches used for designing of single-unit (Tablets) and various essential formulation aspects. The book also summarizes the in vitro studies to evaluate the performance and application of floating systems. Several problems associated with the development of floating tablet dosage form are also address in this book
