Advances in technology and a significant decrease in the associated costs are driving progress in genomic studies. For complex traits, studies of whole exome and genome sequences in large samples of cases and controls are becoming increasingly common. The topics in this issue range from the use of existing clinical collections for complex trait genetics analysis to the latest approaches to multi-variable analysis to detect gene-gene interactions. This publication contains research papers that address some of the most compelling challenges in big data analysis in the expanding fields of genomics and related "omics" disciplines, including methods for copy number and rare variant analysis, and tools for causal inference and prediction. Integration of Omics Data in Genetic Epidemiology is of special interest to scientists in the fields of genetics, genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, and epidemiology.
