Since the first edition of ‘Hepatitis C Virus’ appeared in 1994, a substantial amount of new research data has been published. This second edition covers almost all aspects of current HCV research, reflecting the wide range of knowledge gathered since the genome of HCV was identified in 1989. For the new edition all the chapters have been carefully updated and some have been completely rewritten. New chapters focussing on the molecular characterization of HCV, the immunopathogenesis of HCV infection and the liver histology of hepatitis C have been added. Clinicians including hepatologists, gastroenterologists, internists and pediatricians, but also pathologists, virologists, specialists in transfusion medicine and epidemiologists will appreciate this well-edited book.
