Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock's Hermann Dramas are presented here for the first time in an historico-critical edition which takes account of the total extant manuscript inventory. „Hermanns Schlacht" (Hermann's Battle) (1769) was a resounding success, but the sequels „Hermann und die Fürsten" (Hermann and the Princes) (1784) and „Hermanns Tod" (Hermann's Death) (1787) did not meet with the same resonance. The volume of critical apparatus contains selected documents and commentaries on the history of the origins and reception of the dramas.
