Is friedrich nietzsche a philosopher of culture(s)? this book deals with nietzsche´s examination of the concept and concrete instances of culture as well as with his plans to create a culture affirmed by life. the author explores how far nietzsche´s attempt to judge his own culture from the perspective of other cultures already provides a new path for intercultural reflection. finally, the book treats the reception of nietzsche´s cultural-philosophical views in the 20th century and questions how far nietzsche´s cultural thought is relevant for contemporary cultural philosophy and the "cultural turn" in the humanities.
