内容简介

Environmental microbiology is the analysis of the microorganisms in the natural and artificial environments. It particularly centralizes on microbial properties and processes that elucidate the structure and function of natural and synthetic environments. Soil, water, air, sediments, animals, plants etc constitute a natural environment whereas fermenters form an artificial environment. Microorganisms are principal living components of soil, sediments and marine environments, and are of prime importance for on-site remediation of agricultural and industrial wastes and subsurface pollution. They mediate globally important processes and have special impact on the ecosystem. Therefore, to keep away the environmental problems, it is crucial to understand and anticipate the microbial activities. In this book, a few research studies on environmental microbiology are discussed.
