This book brings together many wide ranging approaches to language education from across the globe and attempts to capture the multifaceted and varied social and linguistic contexts with which language teachers educators are faced in different educational settings. The book is structured in a manner, which hopefully is comprehensive, accessible and clear. The chapters cover theoretical background as well as emerging sociolinguistics and language education paradigms and highlights key research in the field. There is an important focus on social justice as the book attempts to investigate the challenges inherent in the relationships between society, power and language.
