This co-authored monograph was completed for the BFI Film Guide series and considers significant cult film traditions from around the world. Entries to the volume are drawn from a range of nascent genres and cycles that include horror, science fiction, musical, melodrama, anime, blaxploitation, zombie vampire and sexploitation cinema, with an expanded introduction to the book providing a rationale for its transnational composition. As well as authoring half of the volume, I also provided exclusive interview footage with leading cult filmmakers for inclusion in the book. These primary materials included interviews with Dario Argento, Pupi Avati, Alex Cox, Ruggero Deodato, Jesus Franco, Lloyd Kaufman, H.G. Lewus, Christina Lindberg, (the late) Aristide Massaccesi, Takashi Miike, Franco Nero, George A. Romero, Eli Roth and Brian Yuzna.
