Like all professions, the addictions treatment field is faced with the challenges of employee substance use and abuse and their impact on retention of quality staff. Because the addictions field employs a disproportionate number of individuals – by recent estimates close to half of the treatment workforce – in recovery, the field faces particular retention challenges.
