This series examines issues and economic matters particular to small businesses. The term Small Enterprise (or Small Organization) is sometimes used for this same category of business or organization. A small enterprise/organization may also be a nonprofit organization. This volume covers several topics including: the current law and economic justification of small business tax benefits; the poverty alleviation aspect of entrepreneurship through microenterprise development; the tool and die industry's contribution to U.S. manufacturing and federal policy considerations; the Hollings Manufacturing Partnership (MEP) program of regional centers that assist smaller, U.S.-based manufacturing companies in identifying and adopting new technologies; the role of small firms in the labor market; the SBA Surety Bond Guarantee Program; and the SBA's definitions of small business guide.
