This book looks at The U.S. Department of the Interior which protects and manages the Nation’s natural resources and cultural heritage, provides scientific and other information about those resources and honors its trust responsibilities or special commitments to American Indians, Alaska Natives, and affiliated Island Communities. The mission of the Department’s U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. The Service is responsible for national programs of vital importance to our natural resources, including administration of the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Programs. These two programs provide financialassistance to the States for projects to enhance and protect fish and wildlife resources and to assure their availability to the public for recreational purposes.
