Sand dunes occur throughout the world, from arid desert regions to coastal and lakeshore plains. They are characterized by remarkable structure and patterns and provide habitats for a variety of life. The direction and velocity of winds and the local supply of sand, result in a variety of sand dune shapes and sizes. This book presents topical research data in the study of sand dunes, including dune ecosystems of the Southern Pampean Coast of Argentina; Aeolian sand dune environments as well as vertebrate diversity in the Thar Desert of India.
