The USDA provides technical and financial assistance to attract interest and encourage participation in conservation programs. These programs protect soil, water, wildlife and other natural resources on privately owned agricultural lands to limit environmental impacts of production activities both on and off the farm. This new book provides an overview of conservation programs with a focus on technical assistance for agricultural conservation; the conservation reserve program; conservation provisions of the 2008 Farm Bill; the Land and Water Conservation Fund; the Debt-for-Nature Initiatives and the Tropical Forest Conservation Act and the International Species Conservation Fund.
