At the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the ICNV at Moscow in 1966 a committee was set up to examine the utility of the virus cryptogram. As outlined in Chapter 1 this committee has changed in its function and name in the intervening years. It is now the ICTV “Standing subcommittee for virus data” and is associated with the World Data Centre for Microorganisms in Brisbane.
