As a beginner this is an AMAZING foundation for understanding physics. I knew NOTHING about physics before reading this book. Dr. Roth explains everything at a level anyone could understand - including humor. This should be a college course. I would definetly take it!

I think Prof. M. Roth does an excellent job in showing how many complicated problems in everyday life can be modeled in a computer, and in many cases this can be done without extensive knowledge of physics, materials science, etc. Roth brakes the barriers and makes it possible to someone with minimal computing prior knowledge to get involved in what is the fastest growing way of analyzing complex things.
