Help your students master Microsoft® Visual Basic with the step-by-step, visual approach and professional programming opportunities in MICROSOFT® VISUAL BASIC® 2015 FOR WINDOWS®, WEB, WINDOWS® STORE, AND DATABASE APPLICATIONS: COMPREHENSIVE. This book’s innovative step-by-step pedagogy integrates demonstrations of professional-quality programs with in-depth discussions of programming concepts and techniques. Students practice and reinforce what they’ve learned with numerous independent programming assignments in each chapter. This new volume retains the popular features and pedagogy from previous editions while emphasizing the changing development process in today’s increasingly mobile-oriented world. This book provides a strong foundation for the number one job in today’s tech sector -- app development -- as students gain a solid understanding of Windows® programming for 2015, including Windows® Desktop, database and web applications, and Windows® Store development. Chapter 12, which covers the Windows® Store, will be posted online at CengageBrain.com, to provide students with the latest updates for Windows® 10.

So far, the book is very clear and concise. It is straight to the point and explains everything thoroughly. There are many, many Guided Programs, Case Programs, and Debugging Exercises which is good for those who want to practice and master the craft, like myself. Honestly, after just one chapter, I felt like a programming genius and I truly felt like I understood Visual Basic's interface. The website offers a lot of resources, though, my only concern is that I only have access to these resources through my college registry even though I purchased this book through Kindle. Haven't yet figured out how to actually register the product as I can't find any registration key.Kindle says the project is already registered, but my account on Cengagebrain doesn't show me owning the book, even though it's under the same email. I guess I'll cross that bridge when necessary.Otherwise, fantastic book for a fair price.

While the information presented in this text is accurate, it does a poor job of really teaching the material. This text is more of a set of instructions (step 1, step 2, etc...) rather than proper text book. After using this text, I feel all I learned was how to do the exercises in the chapters and have no grasp on how to write real, everyday programs. I suggest any programming/computer science department seriously look at other texts. Some concepts are see incomplete (see validation expressions).

This book seems to be a good source of information for learning Visual Basic, but the editing on it was absolutely horrible. I'm halfway through reading it and I've found multiple instances of figures being referenced which don't exist, or referencing a figure number that contains completely different information than what is being described. Also, the text does a good job of explaining how to code operations but often doesn't explain in what circumstances that operation would be useful, which is not very helpful for a beginning programmer.

Great with fast delivery and good price to rent, but the quality of the book that I had received after being told good condition was a bit odd. The first cover page was almost completely ripped and various other rips on the cover make it hard to treat it like it’s a regular book. Instead It must be treated like it was Jesus Christ’s personal textbook on Visual Basic. This could be my one book in particular, which is just inconvenient, but I would recommend renting this book as it’s worth the $14 as opposed to buying it at $100+

Book came exactly as described and is exactly what I needed for my class. This book has a wealth of information for anyone looking to use Microsoft Visual Basic 2015 for beginner coding.

Based on my previous experience on ebooks from other companies, I placed this order. Unfortunately, Amazon Kindle has so basic technology on ebooks. It is so hard to work with this book. Many times the book stops working and you need to restart that. Search is very hard and cheap technology. I don't recommend Amazon Kindle to anybody. Try to buy from other sellers!

This book covers more or less the same content as SAMS Teach Yourself Visual Basic in 24 Hours, i.e. it is a basic introduction to creating Windows Forms Applications. In my opinion, the SAMS book does a better job of explaining the topics, whereas this book scans over some of them too casually. (Furthermore, this book is over four times the price of the SAMS book!) I was going to give this book 2 stars overall, but there are a few stand-out chapters towards the end of the book. Chapters 9, 10 and 11 on Web Apps, Databases and Classes, respectively, are probably the best introductions to those particular topics that I've read to date. Hence I give the book 3 stars instead. [I would also be interested to find out how this book differs from the "introductory" book in this series (ISBN-13: 978-1285856902), as the content of this "comprehensive" book does actually focus on beginner-level topics!]
