At the organization of the Peekskill Savings Bank, in 1857, he became one of its first trustees, and he has continued ever since as such, and is now the only one of the first board in office. At the death of Oscar V. Crane, he succeeded him as vice-president, and in 1881 was elected president, which position he still holds. He was one of the organizers of the National Association of Stove Manufacturers, in which he has held the offices of member of the board of managers, vice — president and treasurer.
