We will never realize what it meant to the men and women of a hundred years ago to leave their homes and all that was clear to them and lay the foundation of a new civilization in the unbroken forest. The heart aches, the deprivations, the longings for old friendships and home we will, it is hoped, never experience. Most of us have a tend ency to smile at the rude hut, primitive customs, and lack of comforts of the pioneer, but rather let us reverence their determined course in founding a civilization from which you and I are reaping the results. The North West, think of her wealth, population and power, and to whom it is due.
