This parifh cannot be approached on horfeback without great difficulty, and even danger; the road from Porlock being only a path about two feet wide, winding in a zigzag direction along the flope of the hills, and often interrupted by large loofe {tones and roots of trees. The woods abound with whortleberries, and a variety of fine poly podies, lichen, and Other moifes; among which is fome of the yellow rein-deer mofs, very bright and fcarce. 'there are alfo fome rare plants; and many wild deer, foxes, badgers, and martin cats, inhabit thefe woods. During the three winter months the fun is never feen here; being entirely hid by the height of the furrounding hills.
