The Editor has one grateful task to perform: to thank the subscribers for the support they have given to his nu dertaking. He entered upon it from a desire to do justice to the poet, and at the same time to benefit two surviving and unmarried daughters. Without this liberal support neither of these objects would in any degree have been attained. In the attempt to accomplish one of them, he is fully sensible of the inadequacy of his powers, and of the imperfections of his labours. For the latter he throws himself on the indulgent consideration of the reader.
