Continual distressing constriction immediately above the pit of the stomach, as if all knotted up, or as if a hard lump of undigested food had lodged there. Painful sensation, as if something had lodged in the chest and required to be coughed up, but no amount of coughing is able to dislodge it. Chronic intermittent fever, accompanied by this peculiar distressing pain above the stomach.
