My Lord,Permit me to dedicate to you my Compendium of the British Tourists. I would not presume to offer what appeared wholly undeserving of your Lordship's protection; nor attempt to obtrude on my readers in general, what I did not think was calculated, either to instruct, inform, or amuse. The public sanction has already been literally bestowed on this work, and encourages me to hope, that I shall not solicit private patronage in vain.Independent, indeed, of other considerations, it is with some propriety that I address the British Tourists to you.
