[This Volume consists of an Essay on Border Antiquities, which formed the Introduction to a work, in two vols. 4to, published in 1814, under the title of Border Antiquities of England and Scotland, comprising specimens of Architecture, Sculpture, ; - and of Essays illustrative of paintings of Scottish Scenery, first printed by Sir Walter Scott in the elegant Collection, entitled Provincial Antiquities and Picturesque Scenery of Scotland, 2 vols. 4to, 1825, 1826. The pictures which suggested these Essays were presented to Sir Walter Scott by the publishers of the work, and form the decoration of a small drawingroom at Abbotsford.]
