The following poetic Legend, now first printed, is contained in ms. Bibl. Cotton. Titus D. Xviii. A small quarto volume in Gothic characters upon vellum. Among other contemporaneous works bound up with it in the same volume are two homilies, and a copy, wanting the be ginning, of Institutiones Monialium Ordinis Sti Jacobi, veteri lingua Anglicana from another copy of which, Nero A. Xiv. Passages illus trating the present work are quoted in the Notes and Glossary. The various readings are from ms. Bibl. Reg. 17. A. Xxvii. A small quarto volume in Roman characters; in which are also the Legend of St. Mar garet, and that of St. Juliana, both of which are quoted in the Notes and Glossary, and, if we may judge from the repeated use of the same expressions and Similar turns of thought in each, seem not unlikely to have been written by the author of the present work.
