The author of this work does not pose as a great speaker, but as one who has an abiding interest in public speaking, and who has learned more by his failures than by his suc cesses. Whatever of psychology is of greatest value to the public speaker will be regarded as appropriate to the series. There is, to the author's knowledge, no published work un der this title, and indeed no psychology published for the special use of public speakers. This fact will necessitate a re-writing of many established facts of psychology and at the same time will call for new applications and fuller pre scutations of many of the truths which in other forms would have no special value to the public speaker.
