The Black Buccaneer was Stephen W. Meader's first novel. He wrote extensively for young readers and was a firm favourite of many. Another of his novels (Bulldozer) was referenced by Stephen King.In this book the young hero is snatched by the pirates of the title. After several adventures he regains his freedom and later evens the score assisting in the buccaneers' capture. It is set in America in the early 1700s and gives a great flavour of colonial times.
