After all, anything like personal eulogy seems out Of place in speaking Of one, who in the humblest self-abasement sought no place in the world's esti mation, content to be only a passive instrument in the hands Of his Master; and who, as has been remarked, through modesty concealed the events in which he was an actor. A desire to supply in some sort this deficiency in his Journal, is my especial excuse for this introductory paper.
