The original ms. By Miss Sarah Hoare, from which the first memoir is printed, occupies eighty-nine pages of a small quarto note-book, and was begun in 1825, the writer being then eight and forty. There are slight differences in the ink and the handwriting, indicating that there were some intervals of time before it was completed.
