This volume was written in 1861. At that time the World was not ready to consider there propositions therein contained. But since then the wonderful discoveries and advancement in science has clearly established the fact that the conclusions therein arrived at are universal laws, established by the Creator in all his works.The following are some of the great inventions and discoveries made since this volume was written, and are evidences of the theory and propositions set forth in this work, viz:Clippings from PeriodicalsThe telephone that takes your speech, keeps it unuttered if your friend happens to be out, but speaks it into his ear as soon as he returns, whether the interval be an hour or a week — must be regarded as a marvel of marvels. That machine may consist either of a steel wire wound on a revolving drum, or of a hard steel disk revolving in a horizontal plane. Above the revolving wire, or disk, is placed a small electro-magnet actuated by the telephone circuit.
