To get at the truth about the Schley case we must divest ourselves of all preconceived, ideas and prejudices and study the facts with a clear mind. We must not approach this subject with a fixed idea that we are for or against Admiral Schley, or for or against Admiral Sampson. It is necessary that we should take no sides whatever; that we should put ourselves in precisely the same frame of mind as if we were jurors in the box or judges on the bench. We must have no opin ions till we have ascertained what the facts are; and we must analyze those facts without fear or favor.
