内容简介

Subordinate to this is what' may be termed constructive invention, or the invention of development and improvement. One man con ceived and reduced to practice the mechanism for reproducing human speech — a genetic invention. He and others have made contributory inventions of constructive revision. The origination of the talking machine has stimulated constructive thought in an entirely new field of activity, and thereby the original device 'has been modified by changes and additions which may or may not have been improve ments. Unfortunately, too much of constructive invention is not stimulated by a desire to better an existing invention, but arises from predatory motives and is directed to getting around it. Because of this fact, such inventive acts are best termed circumventions, which word best expresses their piratical spirit.
