We left New York on the North German Lloyd steamer, Kaiser Wilhelm II., for Bremen, Germany, with the intention of traveling through Norway, Sweden and Russia. Almost all of the passengers alighted at Plymouth, and Cherbourg, leaving but few of us on board and making the last two days of the trip seem very long. We went from Bremen to Hamburg by train. At Hamburg I suddenly discovered that my guide-book was over ten years old.
