It is said that, whilst yet in the cradle, bees shed honey on his lips; which was considered as a presage Of that astonishing eloquence by which he afterwards distinguished himself above all the Greeks. During his youth, poetry was his favourite study; and he then composed two tragedies and several elegies, all Of which, when he resolved to devote himself to philosophy, he threw into the fire.
