内容简介

This book examines the early development of the Reformation debate over the Lord's Supper. Going beyond Martin Luther and Ulrich Zwingli, it demonstrates the importance of late medieval heresy and the key role played by Andreas Bodenstein von Karlstadt in challenging traditional belief in Christ's corporeal presence in the sacrament.

Dr. Burnett's book on Karlstadt and his contribution to the Eucharistic Controversy of the early Protestant Reformation helps the reader to make significant connections to the evolution and definition of the various eucharistic theologies. She helps the reader to see how the circulation of pamphlets in the 1520's shaped the theologies of the growing protestant movement and how the disagreements between Luther, Karlstadt, Zwingli and others took form. There is not a wealth of information about Karlstadt, who was a colleague of Luther's at Wittenberg, so this volume fills many gaps for those who are interested in him. Not sure why it costs so much though!
