This is the go-to book for learning Prolonged Exposure. If you're already an advanced practitioner, I would consider it too simplistic, but it's perfect for a new therapist (or an experienced therapist learning a new modality).

Excellent book! Clearly explains how to carry out reliving work with PTSD clients from start to finish. This is an invaluable resource and I am so glad I found this book! A must have for all therapists working with PTSD clients. Thank you so much!!

Jeanne Winters

I order Kindle books here for our sight impaired staff member, he finds this service invaluable and as he is a Psychologist needs to read a lot of books like this one. Thank you.

This book is a great step by step guide to working with clients with PTSD. It is good for those new to delivering PTSD and also a good reference guide for the more experienced, will definetly be buying more in the series in future.

I'm always looking for exposure-based trauma training books and this one is clear, evidence-based, and practical.

Lester Bernum

Very solid information that is empirically based therapy. I recommend this for those who have training in CBT and not just for those therapists who are curious.

Rachel M.

Excellent step-by step guide. It is crucial, however, to have live training to accompany it. The untrained should not use this!

Patti

Easy to follow. Used it for clinical internship to provide PE therapy.

nicole

I am reading this for my upcoming practicum - very easy to follow.

Matthew Jason Hales Horner

A great manual for someone who has clinical skill but wants to specialize a bit in PE.

G. Phillips

Excellent and using in private practice.

Book was written in a redundant and non-nonsensical manner. It was not helpful at all. Was not worth the money I would recommend not buying it.

I was involved in a Road Traffic Accident on the 22nd August 2015 which resulted in me been put into a induced coma to help stabilize my injuries. I suffered three brakes of my T5, T9 and T11 spinal Chord and received Brain Damage to my left side frontal lobe and right side frontal lobe and also damage to my occipital lobe of the brain. As a result I developed PTSD which I suffered with for 3 years. I was unlucky enough to learn how the neuropsychology industry works. I had 4 neuropsychologist in total from may 2016 to July 2018. Just talking nonsense that benefits nobody apart from a pay check to the appointed neuropsychologist. They keep the game going for as long as they can and certainly at no point try and fix the victims as that is less paid ‘work’ for them. In July 2018 I gave up with the scam industry and bought the book ‘Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD: Therapist Guide Emotional processing of traumatic experiences’. I read the book 3 times in total before I completely understood what I need to do in conjunction with ‘Reclaiming Your Life from a Traumatic Experience: Workbook’. It is very emotional work and painful reliving such trauma but necessary. Cowardice is the refuge as I tried to ran away from such trauma but reliving the trauma is imperative . There is no other way to fix yourself. Well 2 weeks of intense deciphering the trauma was all I needed. I ended my own course in August 2018. I realise know that I will never be the same person as before the accident but I certainly fixed my debilitating and morbid fear, myself. PTSD is insidious. If there are any neuropsychologist from Ireland reading this review ‘you’ as an industry should be ashamed of yourselves. The book ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest’, is only fiction but very close to how the mental industry in Ireland treats victims of Traumatic Brain injury. I have no back ground in psychology but it is much much easier to study than my field of Physics and Computer Science. So easy in fact that it is fully of charlatans. Anyway Exposure Therapy works.
