Emphasizing life-style adjustments that will provide a better quality of life and moderate the burden for patients and their loved ones, Navigating Life with Parkinson's Disease empowers patients and their families with the necessary information to take charge of their health care.
Very informative with valuable information. Sharing tips with other PD sufferers is helpful. Right now I can do most things by myself but as my hands get weaker and don't work as well I'll need help. I am an avid reader with a membership in talking books. They are wonderful and everything is free and comes to your mailbox. If you are interested call 1-800-242-8822. They will send you a form that needs to be signed by your doctor.
I was referred to this book by my doctor when I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. The book is practical in that it covers every aspect of the disease, offers practical suggestions and outlines methods of living with this disease. It is a good Guide for a patient!
After being diagnosed with Parkinson's I grabbed every book I could find written about this disease. I should have saved my money and just purchased this book. This is everything you need to know about dealing with this disease. Great book.
This is a book that is upbeat about Parkinson's Disease. It's quite positive and helpful. It not only explains the disease, but it gives helpful hints on exercise and diet. It's best to read a few chapters at a time in order to digest all of the information. I bought 3 copies. I sent a copy to each of my sons and to my brother-in-law in order for them to better understand my husband's disease.
It is a good book for newly diagnosed people with Parkinson's... giving some ideas for what lies ahead. It's also a good book to keep on the shelf for reference as the disease progresses and medicine and therapies change. However, it is a bit dense and complicated for the lay reader.
Patients and caregivers can will benefit from this volume. Newly diagnosed especially. Very basic stuff that really matters when dealing with day-to-day living with the disease. If you have had PD for a while, you have probably figured out most of what is in this volume. Recommeded for caregivers who need to understand how life has changed, and will change in the future.
My father-in-law was recently diagnosed with Parkinson Disease. This is our first experience with this disease in our family, and I actually happened on this book at our local library, read it, and then ordered one for us to keep and one for my in-laws. It's informative, and yet easy to read, with information from symptoms to treatment. I'd definitely recommend this book for someone trying to educate themselves about Parkinson Disease.
This book was written in a professional manner. I like to read more personal stories. However the information seemed well documented and accurate. Thank you.
I'm not a neurologist and I don't aspire to be one, but having a significant other with diagnosed Pakinson Disease (Stage 5) had me searching any and all literature that I could put my eyes to so I could make some sense of the what was going on and perhaps get a small glimpse of what I can expect in the future, as a care giver. The book is easy to read and follow and has enough technical data to help me understand why things are progressing as they are. It has been a big help for me and I'm always going back-and-forth reading and learning. This book, has been an excellent resource companion for me, alongside of "Parkinson's Disease for Dummies."
I was looking for a book that spells out what can be expected with Parkinsons and tips on how to deal with these issues. Although as they say Parkinsons is different for everyone who experiences it and I have read books from sufferers which although helpful never really helped my understanding of what I was experiencing. This book has helped me understand it more and given me a away in which I believe I can manage the disease. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get thier heads around the problems they are experiencing.
