There is no biography of the editor, list of tables, list of figures, or list of abbreviations.The book is a 12.9 19.3 3.3 cm paperback, which would fit into the briefcase or carry bag.The cover of TravellersâHealth: How to Stay Healthy Abroad is a particular highlight,printed with bright colors on white gloss card,which helps attract the attention of the reader.On the front cover, the artwork depicts various modes of travel, with excellent use of colors. On the back cover, there is a summary of the essential features of the book, as well as extracts from various reviews of the book,primarily from the popular press, and presumably based on the previous edition, although this is not stated. This fourth edition of Travellersâ Health: How to Stay Healthy Abroad confronts the reader with its size, easily surpassing the average novel read by most travelers abroad. Weighing in at about 1 kg, this book is for the serious, longer-term or expeditionary traveler. It is also for the informed traveler or for the traveler who wishes to be informed, especially through a greater understanding of the diseases and hazards that they may face abroad. The travel health adviser may also wish to take the time to read this guide, so that they can help keep ahead of their clients! This book gives travelers a mix of background scientific information and commonsense advice on travelerâs health issues.The bookâs concise writing style makes it easy to read. It is well researched, fairly consistent, and generally systematic in its presentation. Reference to other useful publications and Internet sites is made throughout the main text as well as in Further Reading. It also gives coverage to issues not often covered or not covered in much detail in other publications of this type, such as filarial infections, ectoparasitic diseases, cruise ship medicine, security and safety, landmines, hay fever,water sports, skiing, foot care,dental problems, and disabled travelers.There are few limitations,except perhaps its size and amount of detail,which may be overwhelming for some travelers.
