I was most interested in Chapter 5.and my comments pertain to that chapter. I loved this chapter becasue I could picture some of the revival history in my ancestors lives when they lived in Weardale and were lead miners and farmers. Interestingly the Methodist background is still prevalent in present day generations that live in western Canada as a result of migration in the late 1800s. Incredible the influence of christianity and its long lasting effects! This book also validated that most of the adults living in Stanhope and surrounding areas in the 1700s could read and write.
