内容简介

In the years following publication of the DSM-5®, the field of psychiatry has seen vigorous debate between the DSM's more traditional, diagnosis-oriented approach and the NIMH's more biological, dimension-based RDoC approach. Sections and chapters are edited and authored by experts at the top of the field. No other book distills the basic science and underpinnings of mental disorders and explains the practical clinical significance to the scope and breadth of this classic text.

Overall, the book was a satisfactory summary of research on a few disorders. The best part of the book was definitely the section on mood disorders, which contained a comprehensive and organized review of neuroimaging. However, the rather simplistic neurochemical sections were cringe-worthy. While the section on psychotic disorders was also fairly extensive, it was disorganized and poorly written. Furthermore, the merging of bipolar and psychotic disorders resulting in almost no content on bipolar disorder. The sparse information of bipolar made the psychotic disorder section look like https://www.amazon.com/Behavioral-Neurobiology-Disorder-Treatment-Neurosciences/dp/3642157564 in comparison to the OCD and Tic disorder section. The section on Tic and disorders and OCD was by far the worst section in the book. There was probably one informative sentence in the whole section, if that.
