I ordered my copy directly from the publisher, Elsevier, the largest and most prestigious technical book publisher in the world. If you are in the drilling world, that alone is a huge recommendation, as it carries with it Elsevier vetting and quality. This particular book was also done as part of the IADC Technical Publications Committee--a group of subject matter experts nearing retirement who have banded together for several years to capture knowledge in a way the younger generation of drilling engineers and rig-site operations personnel can benefit from it. The author is Les Skinner, who has more experience in these areas than any other individual I know--and importantly, has authored other books (i.e. he knows how to write!) The 500+ page book is filled with diagrams, photos from operations, equipment drawings, tables, graphs, and explanations to go along with each. As has come to be expected from Elsevier, the TOC and Index are both excellent as well. Each chapter is fully referenced and has a good set of chapter review questions for students and professionals use alike. I highly recommend it! Mark S. Ramsey, P.E.
