Danelle Russell

This book focuses heavily on evolution and ecological principles (hence the title). Often the information is broad and simplistic and applies to other organisms besides microbes; great for begginers, not so much for current microbial ecologists.

Jeanne McSloy

Up to date and accessible, very readable. A good introduction to the material and overview of the field. Clear diagrams and good illustrations.
